I've been posting in this thread since page 5 and I have no idea where the weird uncle/nephew dynamic came from, only that it's been around a long time. I assume it's one of those message board phenomema which is hilarious if you happen to observe its emergence in real time, and which is just weird and inexplicable if you weren't there at the moment of creation.

Nice tumblr and good looking shells.

Im sorry.... but why do you call him nephew? It's rather odd.

The better question is -- where the hell is Uncle Mac in all his photos? Is he on a cobblestoned street somewhere along the Paris-Roubaix route?
If so, the caption should read: "Ravello LWB, Argyles OTC, Roubaix UTF"

Hello -- I am brand new to this site. I hope it is alright if I ask a question.

Just picked up my first pair of shell cordovan Aldens in black -- Medallion cap toe on Aberdeen last. I noticed that towards the bottom of the tongue, where the eyelets are sewn into the shoe near the throatline, some of the medallion cut-outs look brown on the inside of the cutouts. It is kind of a silly complaint, as it is only a few circles with brown on the inside, but I am curious if this is a manufacturing issue (cut outs are too deep) or if anyone else has ever noticed this and it is normal.

Thanks.

Paul

Anybody got a coupon code for some 975's. Would love 10% just to seal the deal.

I estimate he is in the Northeast based on his mentioning of the weather conditions in some of his posts. If I had to guess I would say NYC Metro area. I have often wondered about his age, occupation and location, but decided its better not to ask, as it destroys the mystery. In my mind, he has a cobble stone driveway.

Hi Paul, and welcome.

The issue described sounds like one not to worry about. If it bothers you cosmetically, get some Saphir shell cordovan cream, in black, and use a dauber to insert a bit of cream into the holes ("that's what she said"). :D Buff with a soft cloth and the problem should be resolved.
