Sounds like a good option to go with my work uniform

If I want sleek, I can reach for my EGs, if it's comfort for the day, the Modified (and Barrie as a close second) are worn.

The Plaza last doesn't do much for me.  The Leydon last is pretty sleek if that's the look you want.  I like the Barrie for overall shape and comfort.  I have no experience with the Modified or Grant last  .  .  .  yet.

Back in march when I put my name down, I remember being told that the Captoe boots were 4-5 weeks away and the #4 wingtip boot was 4-5 months away.
So....the #4 wingtip boot arrived in May....so I called about the #4 captoe when the #4 wingtip came in. I was told that Alden told shoemart that the captoe boot was in production and would be ready soon.
I called again this week and was told the order was just sent to Alden on May 26th, so figure 8-12 months from there.
I honestly dont know what or who to believe....I need to call back and speak to Ed.

Please report back what Ed says after you call. 8-12 months is a long time to wait, but it is a very unique makeup. I don't mind a long wait but if I know the rough timeline I can better pace myself.

8-12 months isn't terrible. Custom knives are worse--I've been waiting since October 2010 for one, and it could be another year or two for all I know. I know guys that have been waiting over four years.

Why buy custom knives?

I'm on a five year waiting list at Randall Made.  So 18 months for Aldens ain't so bad.

The same reason folks buy expensive shoes and watches. People collect them.

Just as an FYI and for confirmation, new makeups are taking 18 months from order placement till delivery. Previously made models can take a few months shorter. This does not include #4, whiskey, ravello, and cigar, which depends on availability and order queue.

May I ask where you picked up the ravello's?

Thanks!  Got them 2 wks ago at Alden SF, they had limited sizes at the time, and I'm fairly certain they're sold out.  Shoemart, however, has some limited stock in LHS, Wingtip boot and chukka.
