I think J Crew would not hesitate to offer you a discount.  I'd say 15-20% which would make this whole episode a blessing.

I have the same boots and love them.  Enjoy them.

It's pretty realistic since they started their online system. My tankers took I think a month or so over the alotted time but other preorders have gotten there on a timely fashion

Second, if you must have these shoes be absolutely sure about the size. When I had to return my first pair of these boots I established a personal relationship with a customer service representative. I explained that I required a pristine pair in a specific size, and nothing less would be acceptable. My persistence and patience was all that was needed. This was only my experience. Please don't hesitate to consider the advise of Alcibiades. His recommendation as to alternative options for a #8 boot should be investigated, not just for the shoes, but to help familiarise you with the game of hunting for shell cordovan. I'm sure you'll find a great pair of boots.

Is this a parody post? I can't even tell any more.

A wonderful and insightful post by a wise and sagacious Uncle. On behalf of the Nephews, I thank you.

If so, did you receive the no "creased vamps and marked outsoles" return policy card? The card even has example pictures.

For some this is welcome news. For others, the exact opposite. Definitely a change in policy for TSM though.

Yes, my Cigar Straight Tips, which I received from TSM last week, had this card attached to it as well.

Sometimes, if you need to have a laugh read this thread. Drama, like life, is composed of two elements, comedy and tragedy.

Thank you sir, I'm flattered. However, in my eyes there is but one "Uncle".

Jortuna, I have these J.Crew #8 pct boots and I love them. They are as sleek as a Barrie lasted boot can be, with its close heel. I am in the camp of "keep them and get a discount". As others have said, one wear outside and you wouldn't know the diff. Just irritating that J.Crew would do that without any communication to you about the condition.

does anyone know if any shops stock a color 8 captoe boot on the grant last with a commando sole?

Quoting my own photo in order to ask a question...

I don't wear these boots as much as I would like because I don't love the sole. It's double leather with a Cats Paw toppy and as I bought them well used, it's just not very comfortable... So I decided I should have them resoled but with something "wacky"... Maybe.

So lets call this a chance to see something new...

Do I...

-Go commando? (Sorry for the pun) and if so, which one?
- Go crepe? (It is comfortable)

This last is my favorite right now...

- Go Vibram? Yes... Vibram. Probably black if I can find it but maybe even tan like you see on the LS conservation boot or some Unionmade make ups

What do The Gentlmen suggest?

P.S. No silly colors please. My definition of "wacky" does have boundaries nod[1].gif

I've been wanting to resole my 403s wit the honey vibram. I feel it would also look pretty bad ass on your aged #8

If you do not like the leather sole, I'd send them to B. Nelson and go Dainite.  Otherwise, I'd go with the commando sole.  Good luck my friend!

I have both. I am a 11.5D in Barrie and a 12D in Grant.
