I tried to stop, but must have been infected with the whining bug by my 6-year-old Bryan from LeatherSoul told me that the Plaza gives enough width if you're on the border between D and E widths, as I am. (I can comfortably wear an 8.5D or an 8E; The leffot naval boot was an 8.5E and wears exactly like my 9D grant captoe boot).Stop whining. Some of us could not plaza because a certain retailer did not order "e" sizes.
enjoy and enjoy the goldfish and lwb's I am sure you will find a way to swing.
Glad to represent the Alden Out of Control Club and appreciate hearing I'm not alone.^Doc : great looking additions ! Welcome to the Alden Out of Control Club.
The Plaza is gonna be bad for you...you're gonna want a few more pairs immediately.
It's fun mixing up the laces from time to time. I have to thank BeSpiffington for getting me back into that style. My rubber sole, square-toe-wearing friends don't get it.rydenfan - that is a nice looking boot, thanks for sharing. I like the dark rough leather. I have been catching up on my Alden leathers as I have been researching the different styles lasts and leathers in anticipation of my first purchase and hadn't seen a rough dark leather like that. docalden2013 - beautiful shoes and laces - god help me if I catch the Shell bug, wear in good health
Thank you, Uncle!wear in good health the cap toe boot and ptb
Hi Alcibiades,1) Always remember that there is a healthy resale market for Alden shoes, so as your tastes evolve, you can sell shoes to fund future purposes
2) Amazing how purple those laces look in some photos
3) I have struggled with PTBs (owning both a ravello and cigar pair an selling them due to lack of use), but yours look great. I think it is timing, if I had bought cigar PTBs before buying captoe boots an chukkas, the PTBs would have stayed in the rotation
4) I need a black boot. Debating about whether to preorder the Context tankers, wait for the next Naval boot preorder or to go for something like a wingtip boot

Anybody? These posts get drowned by pics. I thought this was the Alden thread.Gents I have a question regarding fit on lasts.
I measure 8E (larger foot; smaller foot was a 7E) on a Brannock, and seemed to be an 8E on TruBalance (tried on Indy's). However, the boot felt a little tight on my right instep. I have a two-part question:
Does the Barrie fit pretty similarly to the TruBalance? And if I size up to a 8.5E Barrie will I be okay for both feet/my right instep?
barrie and trubalance fit similarly for me.Anybody? These posts get drowned by pics. I thought this was the Alden thread.
Thanks for the funny (sad?; pathetic?) story. I don't think it stops there. I have color 8 plaza boots in WT, plaintoe, and NST; and burgundy shell captoe boots from C&J (made for BB). Color 8 boots are splendid. And the Plaza is one of my favorites. Oh, and BTW, nice acquisitions pictured above.Hi Everyone, First time posting in a long time. Needless to say, I appreciate all the energy and enthusiasm everyone has brought to the thread. It's been busy around here while moving into the new house and doing construction around here, but I thought I'd share some pics of my newest acquisitions, the Leffot Naval Boot in black shell and a cigar ptb from DC. Also, I thought I'd share the latest signs that my Alden habit has spiraled out of control. Undeterred by the hefty expense of installing a koi pond in my front courtyard, I was unable to help myself when LeatherSoul posted the arrival of the refresh of the Color 8 Plaza-lasted wt boot. So desperate was I to finally join the Plaza club that I dug into the funds that had been set aside for the ravello longwings promised to me by Sept by Kathy and the gang in DC--something I told myself I would not do this summer, no matter how seemingly special the makeup. Of course, to truly capture my hitting rock bottom, the money I set aside was not enough to cover the Plaza boots, so I essentially had to ask if I could prepay a large portion of the boots and then pay the balance next week (via cash I was anticipating patients giving me that I could turn into a gift card so as to remain undetected by dear wife). Sensing my desperation and perhaps taking pity on me, Bryan at LS was more than gentlemanly and even offered to throw in some free shoe trees upon payment of the balanceThat's when you know it's bad: when you're putting Aldens on layaway. That said, they're Plaza lasted shell boots! Someone please help me.
I don't understand the reluctance of retailers to order E sizes in the narrower lasts. Leffot sells out of E lasts in Barrie quickly, it's pretty clear Plaza, Aberdeen and Grant orders can support a lot of E widths
That's odd! I could have sworn you were a native New Yorker. Your accent sounds sounds so authentic. The oysters are likely Kumomotos or another West Coast variety from the Pacific Northwest (I like West Coast oysters)... The photo was taken at Aquagrill, my favorite NYC seafood restaurant / raw bar ever since I moved here
The AOC archive photos reaffirmed my stance on the plaza last. More alden make ups should be on plaza.
Uncle, great looking six-eyelet chukkas. Love the shine and argyles.#8 chukkas
