Same here I never match tie with ps or socks. But what's wrong with wearing velvet slippers outside? I think that's pretty cool, I also do it in summer.I definitely consider the other elements in a 'fit' when selecting socks. Of the tie/square/sock combo I personally try to have some strong color relationship between two of the three. Three out of three can be too matchy.
