You're right. I just checked SE's listing and it says, "Chrome tanned horsehide from a tiny tannery in Himeji, the tanning capital of Japan," which I assumed was Shinki.

That is why there is a price difference on those. Shinki is vegetable tanned.

I find this guy a bit irritating but he does provide a good close-up of the Shinki medium HH leather. I'm getting excited about my jacket as that leather looks beautiful.

That color does look nice.

I hear what you are saying but he’s just a passionate fool like the rest of us. He puts a lot of effort into production value and shares an interest. I can’t fault him for that.

But man does he stir up some polarizing opinions. I suppose if you put yourself out there you have to be open to attention good or bad.

The only thing I’d recommend to him is to be more aware of your backgrounds. He posts some very high resolution, well lit, clear images but often has a tree growing out of his head :-D. It's a nitpick for sure. Just a pet peeve of mine.

of all the fit pic critiques ive read on here, this beats the time someone told manton that he should tie his shoelaces differently

I think it's the Johnny Bravo hair that does it for me. Like you said, he is passionate but a bit of a fan boy for his stuff so it is hard to get an unbiased review.

Looks like their code works on the roberts too. I really don't need a second FCL in six months but I am very tempted

Not a bad deal. You can always make it a "custom" with a pair of sharp scissors.

That looks pretty good to me. It'll grow on her, I'll bet. who makes the t-shirt? I dig the texture/heathering of the fabric.
It's just a regular J Crew heather shirt that has since shrunk a bit too much from the dryer.

It's just the DR styling overall, she knows the fit and leather quality is a step above what we normally are used to but either has said the DR styling seems feminine, or that the look reminds her of old hairy biker dudes. Totally different reaction when the Belstaff quilted jacket was in and she started looking for something for herself.

Maybe it's a thing like how the guys dig the S2000 but the girls want the comfy SUV.

Hahaha I had an S2000 for 12 years (RIP 2002 New Formula Red). Guess that explains the DR now. I run into issues myself with the wife having preset ideas of what articles of clothing signal. My experience has been mostly successful in shifting those ideals by acclimatizing her to the ways those preset ideas can be inaccurate. YMMV, of course.

She still won't let me buy a windowpane sport coat, however. But I'm dying on the DR hill.

nah def not shinki, shinki is vegetable tanned normally that’s how they get that tea core look.

chrom tanning aka white tanning is more toxic and absorbs colors better, I don’t recall seeing a tea core looking chrome tanned jacket of course there maybe so lmk

Started watching Upload on amazon during quarantine. The female main character sporting some nice leathers. A sharp shearling in one episode and an interesting DR in another. She looks pretty good in both IMO. She is wearing that DR in LA in the summer...that happens all the time right?
