I love boots! I have a pair of Anderson Bean Ostrich.

But...this is the Allen Edmonds forum so I will refrain...LOL.
I love ostrich - always wanted a pair myself....I passed on a pair of python lucchese once - not working in the south anymore :(

Oh well, everyone likes pics, so let's bring em on:

Gotta keep pushing on these - lobster will eventually take notice....

Newberry wanted to see these....

Can't go with the Aberdeen every time it rains, so this is sort of the alternative.

Actually got these a really long time ago now. At the time, I thought they would be super versatile being black, wow was I wrong. They're a great casual / denim shoe, but the black rough leather, brown perforations, natural/brown double sole combined with closed lace make this really hard to pair. I have three of these in total - obviously cognac gets the most use, but the black, as much as I love them, get very little use.

I find that I can always find a good deal at NR but absolutely not in my size. I look through the surrounding sizes for fun sometimes. I found the brown suede Cavanaughs once - 7.5E, I think they were less than 100 dollars. I mainly see Madison Aves & Riversides now. Best thing I'd ever seen was a limited edition frye Americana boot I saw once in a 7.5D (frye runs so damn big) - I think they weren't much more than 100.

The best i've seen on NR was the walnut cloud Park Aves for $199. They lasted only 4 days I think. They once had an outbound brown Malone for $149 in my size, and it was the only one they had left. I regret not buying them.

I bought a pair of Blue Baton Rouge at NR last year. Love them. I don't think the website has what selection the store does.

Yeah, I looked nothing in my size.

I suspect this will be the case at least in the near term. I think AE is moving towards keeping a lower stock of shell first (which leads to fewer seconds) in all but the most common sizes, and just making what is made to order in the other sizes.

Your best bet, other than the 15% off when a store opens, is possibly the RDA sale in the fall. If they put shell on sale during the RDA at all. But it never hurts to periodically check the ShoeBank, other than hurting your wallet.

Yes they use a spray acrylic now instead of wax polish. I'm not a huge fan.

How do we handle the shoes now? Wear them until the acrylic wears off?

I haven't had need to yet, but I believe when the acrylic starts to fade, you can strip, and wax. Most of mine are either pre-acrylic, suede, or rough collection type leather. Or you could buy the AE spray sine if that is your wont.

Bitter chocolate suede Cavanaugh for the fights tonight.

My foot tan game was on point until I spent 3 days golfing in 115+ degrees so I'm back to square one

Definitely! A few months ago I bought a pair of snuff suede Gobi Chukkas for $150 and I love them.

Mojave 1.0 for $65, which I snagged. Also snuff Gobi's, but 3 size sto big and brown suede Malverns for $89 but 6 sizes too big.

Wow! That's a huge steal. I always see pairs of navy suede and brown suede McGregors for $109 but I can never find my size. Also I'm hoping I find a pair of brown Bleecker Street chukkas but I never do lol. I just find them in black but never my size.

Ok so the consensus is that these are overpriced at $395 and have a few issues I have noticed.

Yes. I don't believe they were EVER $395 when new and firsts direct from AE. That seller is basing the $395 on the current price of the Park Ave, after multiple price increases since AE make the grey PA's. They're not that common, but they pop up on eBay every so often. I even found 3 pairs (not my size, all 9's) in the same MJM once.

I also wan't to point out that there is some variance in the finish on the Grey Cloud. Mine have much less of the darker finish than the ones posted and are almost solid grey. Oh, and there was also a Grey Cloud Dalton. Someone not that long ago posted a page from an AE catalog that had the grey shoes featured, back when they were pushing that color.
