Yenni has #8 unlined dovers, antique flat flex welt for preorder, November delivery. Basically the same as Leffots, except for the flat vs split welt. Pre-ordered mine already, can't wait to get them.

Need another pair of shoes to rotate with my Shoe passion #601's

These Alden Dover's look great! To bad I just bought a pair of Alden's boots, and Wolverine 1000 mile.

Can't afford those right now.

Maybe next week. Are these hard to find? They really look amazing!

Just curious, but when do you guys typically resole? I've seen some people resole early. Should I go all the way through the sole lol?

The equivalent of a Natty 'mic drop'

Yenni is truly dropping bombs!

Resoled advice please. I have a somewhat unicorn boot in shell with antique commando that I'd like to switch to all leather soles. Call Alden and they won't do it .. only original soles no matter the cost.
So... Who would you use to switch and make them look like original Alden soles. Is there a cobbler who specializes in Alden lasts. Would the welts have to be replaced as well? Might be too big a project... Thanks guys.. Waiting for unlined LHS, will post soon.

I believe most will point you to Aram at AH one shoes or B Nelson.

Congrats on your new purchase! I hope that you enjoy your new Alden's and get many years of use out of them.
Steve, great review! It's always great to see feedback on Alden's restoration. Based upon your write up, I can assume that no notes were left on any pairs requesting that they don't get refinished. Thanks for taking the time to do the before and after pics. The antique edge on the Whiskey LHSes makes such a huge difference!

-Mike

Thanks Mayor! Yes, you are right, no notes were left as all the uppers are not in decent condition!

That's strange....I tried in multiple browsers and it worked fine.

I was wondering the same thing. B Nelson does work just as good as Alden from what I have seen.

Was wondering the same thing. B. Nelson is really good too though. There is a guy on Google some where.. He sent one pair to Alden, and the other to B Nelson to compare quality of work. B. Nelson is really good

Nice looking boots with a nice golden color, but please post in the Marketplace. We don't want this thread to become saturated in sales requests... :-)

The quoting here came out funny, but your Ravello Gunboats are superb and you wore them very well today! Hope that you had a great Thursday!

Love these as beaters.. Contrast Stich is Sic in White. You need this shoe..

Ordered my first Suede LHS today for the new season ... Hope I don't have to baby em.. The sales person said do not use defender but rather a specific Suede product? Huh?

Your Black Shell LHSes are looking great, but need a quick buff before photographing... :-)

I have found my Snuff Suede LHSes to be incredibly durable. As our man @Alcibiades says right below here, use a suede spray (I have Nano from Leffot). I do anything but baby my Snuffs. What color Suede did you get?

I finished my pre-season shampoo, spray and brush for my suedes a couple of days ago. I look forward to wearing my tan longwings and snuff shortwings this weekend.

Spot on advice here.

I was going to get Alden fine boot cream, and Alden men's leather defender.

Is the leather defender necessary? I may walk in lightly damp grass For a brief second or two, or get caught in the rain until I retreat to dry area. But, I'm definitely not going to be working in wet conditions, or pouring rain. I live in NC, it is not wet, icy, or snowy here very much.

I was thinking the leather defender would be good on the sole edges? Just for extra protection? My new Alden's have a commando sole Innsbruck sole.

Please help.

@tps3443, I am sorry, but what model are you looking to care for? The maintainence instructions vary quite a bit between Shell Cordovan, Calfskin, Chromexcel, and Suede. I see Innsbruck, so I am thinking that you are talking about an Epaulet makeup, but even that just refers to the casual "brass-ification and commando-ization" of his key makeups (I think).

Indeed you dropped a bomb of glory on us. Those look just stellar. Great pairing right there with the laces, brass hardware and golden Natty CXL.
