I seriously covet those boots - my 100% all-time perfect makeup!!!

EDIT: I originally saw ravello NSTs with a storm welt, antique edge and commando soles (which is my ultimate grail boot) - do you have TWO pairs of ravello NSTs???

    Well this isn't good.
I was seeing which of my Alden's to wear out for Easter dinner this evening and decided to go with my favourite Alden slippers, Snuff Chukka's.
Low and behold I discovered this on the bottom of the right shoe.

Send it back to Alden for a repair and hope I get it back in time for summer or see if someone local can do the trick? My only worry is that they won't be able to do the same sole as Alden does.
For reference these are about 5 years old and as you can see the heel's have been replaced on them once already.

    Thoughts Alden brethren?

    Thanks in advance.

Happy Easter Sunday to those who celebrate!

We seem to be getting out of boot season here, so I hit the PCTs with a light coat of VSC and took a few shots.

I hope to get a few more wears in before the season is completely over - I love these boots. :slayer:

    Happy Easter, all.

I was just lounging in the warm Texas sun, admiring the beauty of Color 8 shell in full sunlight, when I noticed this:

Bummer. These are firsts, never been wet. The discoloration appears to me to be related to dye applied at the factory. Is this something Alden will correct, or am I stuck with it?

I'm no expert, but I'd feel more comfortable with having soles/cork/etc. done without re-lasting (i.e. locally, assuming you've got someone with a good reputation and craftsmanship) on something like a chukka than many more...formed...shoes/boots. That said, if you have the time, I'd send mine back to Alden.

Any suggestions on a matching belt for a pair of tan 979's?

There are a few stock makeups in various colors. Alden SF, DC, and TheShoeMart are good places to start. Other vendors (Leffot, Brick + Mortar, etc) also have makeups.

I would suggest the Allen Edmonds Manistee in Walnut.

those are too ugly for a lawn that green... you should give them to me, I'll dispose of them properly for you.

I have this exact combination and it pairs very nicely. The Walnut on the belt is darker than the color on my Walnut strands and matches the burnished tan on my 979's about perfectly.

Here is a picture, but it does not convey how well the colors match.
