Stunning boots and all around great combo!

By the way, how did the LWB's work out for you?!

Hey Pepp! Can you post links to the relevant threads or urls to where we can learn about the Vass and Enzo MTO stuff?

I'm not Dr. Pepper but here is the EB thread:

http://www.styleforum.net/t/48068/enzo-bonafe-handmade-shoes/1920#post_8261380

The guys there are always cordial and helpful...well, most of the time at least.

On another note, I really enjoy my Aldens as well nod[1].gif

A shame that I took half size too big for my Enzo mahogany shell jumper boots, will have to let them go....

Which do you think is the most comfy? Alden, AE, Vass & Enzo?

I vote for Alden...:smarmy:

Good point.

One of the strong points of Alden is the sheer comfort of their shoes.  Barrie is crazy comfy.

Hampton feels like house slippers.

My unlined LHS basically ARE house slippers.

EB are hard to fit I think.  I actually get a good fit from them.

Truthfully, CJ are just as comfy as Alden for me.

I think Alden are so comfortable because of the orthopedic nature of the company.  One time I owned a late model Lexus.  All leather.  RX 330.  Then, God chose to give me 4 beautiful children....bye, bye Lexus....Hello Ford Freestar.....

Anyway, my final wish was that the Ford have leather interior....the difference between the Fords interior and the Lexus is like night and day...later I found out that Toyota began as an upholstery company and then started making cars but kept an emphasis on the upholstery...

Moral of the Story:  Alden are not like Lexus's but the inside feels like one.

Thanks.

Asians know where it's at!! Wish I could get my hands on some of those makeups exclusive to Southeast Asia! May have to visit family in the PI as an excuse to get to Tokyo, Seoul, and Hong Kong for some shoe shopping!

I heard that.

What I like is when we are all just having a merry time here and then some unknown Asian guy posts his unreal Alden collection.  Its like Alden saves all the good hides for these overseas vendors.

I am glad you reminded me of that.  I think I may end up relocating to China sometime and was lamenting having to get rid of my Alden's....but, maybe I will actually stumble across some hidden Asian cache of exotic Aldens...

The Alden Shangri La...

I am against these guys taking advantage of not only the 2nds list for their own selfish ends...but also making people (Asians and everyone else) pay 50% markups...especially on irregulars...

I am still meditating on the idea of an Alden Shangri La

The only one that wasn't relisted for sale was the 9.5D Grant cigar captoe boot...The expect boot and size I was looking for. :(

I feel you on EB and Vass too, thats why I enjoy their stuff so much.

You should see the faces of the people at the Grad School I attend when they ask where they can get a pair of boots like mine and then I say they were a special makeup that I designed myself...

The first night I wore my mahogany EB boots one of my best friends was straight up gawking at them and he was like; "Someday I'm gonna have a pair of boots like that..." And when he said it he didn't even blink but just kept staring at my boots...classic...

I don't blame him, I too find myself staring at those boots of yours. I just can't bring myself to break the 1k threshold, otherwise I'd order some for myself. The 975 I bought full retail was the most I paid for any shoe, including my Vass and Lobbs. Although soon to be dethroned by the navy shell Carmina longwings I've got coming in soon. smile.gif

For Enzo you can go through Skoak or Solegarb. There is a very robust Enzo thread here and in the GMTO subforum. The Vass thread here is quite active too. Sometimes folks in the US have trouble ordering directly from Budapest and may have to use a proxy or retailer.

The Alden extra dark purple color 8 is my favorite color of any leather in existence. Can't wait until I can finally get a pair I can wear.

Enzo is very tricky. Only three last's are available in wide, and they all have problematically high (for me) insteps. Vass are very solid and comfortable but sizing can be an expensive gamble and is often inconsistent due to the fact that everything is 100% done by hand.

Once I can nail my sizing, I think Alden will be the most comfortable. The shoes and last's seem very well designed from an orthopedic standpoint.
