I believe the correct protocol in this situation would be to mutter the words "Brown is for farmer"

Someday I hope I'm walking around beacon hill and I see a smashingly put together gent smile and give me the nod showing that he appreciates my dress. As he walks away I realize I recognize the cut of his clothes. It was vox...

Someday that will happen. Someday...

You guys have some seriously weird Vox fantasies.

Doesn't everyone? I bet @edmorel has some good ones.

---

I have been out of love with pleats for a very long time, but the suit edmorel is working on for me will have a single forward pleat. I think it could be a game changer, and if so, I will probably go ahead and have a few pairs of staple grays and browns made up that way.

^ One at a time, Stitchy. I am curious about pleats too but would rather do a slow transition / find out they are not for me than get a bunch of things made up.

Well, I am starting with the suit pants, and then we will see how it goes from there.

Right, time for an inspiring fit pic and discuss, which - IIRC - was the intention of the OP...

To me, this is superb for a number of reasons but for the sake of discussion here, I'd like to highlight two:
1) the use of an orange striped shirt here, with the classic combo of navy blazer and light trousers. It's an unexpected twist that works because it doesn't attract undue attention to itself, it just 'fits' in, which leads to:
2) the overall relaxed summery look which fits perfectly in the context of the photo. Member @JPHardy mostly posted before my time, but from what I remember he almost always posted fit pics in the actual context that he was wearing them. Which makes it much easier to actually judge the quality of a fit (and he invariably delivered). I realise that's not always possible for everyone, but for example I've seen on more than one occasion posts of people at the beach being all suited up. Even though the fit is impeccable, to me that's never stylish because it makes one stand out too much.
What do you guys think about how to wear standout items (I hate the term FU) and the importance of context?

One standout item. Or the full FU. JPHardy's is the former, and looks great.

Stitchy, you'll like the pleat. Personally I think it looks best on a three-piece, or at least a suit. Not sure if I'm ready for pleated odd trousers.

High waisted, double pleated, silk/linen odd trousers. I have never gotten as many compliments from random strangers in NYC as that day. Conversely, they're universally hated on SF. It's a very rakish, somewhat 70s look. About as love/hate as it can get. They're so much comfortable than slim, low waisted flat fronts. Sorry for the odd crop, but I'm not posting pics of someone else without their permission.

I'm having Luxire replicate these trousers, along with a Sartoria Partenopea suit jacket, to make a suit in Minnis #0301 mid grey flannel.

Was that one of those random strangers giving you a 'compliment'?

I'd like to think I know her a little better than a stranger, as she's my girlfriend.

But yeah, anyone who has a desk job and sits down a lot during the day is probably better served with pleats. Much more comfortable than flat fronts.

Great fit man. I'm assuming that's a luxire made shirt? I recall you got the white chambray fresco (name?)? Is that it? I just got the eidos lupo polo as a present, and I have to say, luxire did an amazing job replicating it. Those pants would also look pretty awesome in matka silk or raw undyed silk.

edit: don't mean to derail

Yep, Luxire. Have 3 Eidos inspired pools at the moment. Going to order some flannel ones soon, but I'm waiting for light blue flannel.

That's a nice find. I agree with your read of t. I think the look is great. A striped casual shirt that doesn't scream out "look how different I am" and yet firmly adds to the casualness of
The vibe in a distinctive way.

Really nice and inspired. Still the Orange stripe Is perhaps shirt 24. I'm a long way off.
