A friend's asked me to recommend shirts for less than $250 a piece, and I am blanking out. All options, RTW, MTM, bespoke, etc., are game--so long as accessible in New York City. Thoughts?

If I lived in NYC, I'd go with Geneva. That's based on previous StyleForum discussions, though -- I don't have personal experience.

If it must be in NYC as well as <$250, then I'd have to 2nd CEGO. However, if easily accessible from NYC is on the table, I would also recommend Gambert in Newark/Millburn, NJ. Shirts start ~$150 & go to $300+, depending on fabric. Shop is great, the staff is great.

Good Luck.

Online MTM is the way to go.

Mytailor/Hemrajani has Acorn fabrics in the $200 - $250 price range.

Proper cloth has the best website and are NYC based so you can be measured in person. Their fabric selection is limited, but well curated with classic patterns and colors. They have Thomas Mason, around $150.

It seems that one of the best strategies is to invest one great fitting bespoke shirt (or 3 or whatever the minimum is), and then send that shirt to one of the online MTM places to copy it.

Definitely CEGO.

RTW: Does No Man Walks alone have anything?

NMWA has lovely G.Inglese shirts at $295 each and it also has shirts by Mazzarelli for $220 (I think) each. The Mazzarelli ones are a bit more casual by virtue of the fabric as they all seem to be made from oxford or royal oxford cloth instead of poplin, as are the Inglese shirts.

I cant really remember how much i paid but i think the shirts from NSM were about 160-180 Euros. No experience with shirts from steed but i think they are also around that price range
