Briefcase with Strap?

Ok, I have a Barantani briefcase that only has the handle that you carry it by, but, for some purposes, I need a brief case or carry case or whatever you want to call it, with a shoulder strap. Any r ecommendations for something stylish, durable, and that doesn't look like it was made for a school boy?

Thanks.

Straps on briefcases rarely look good, IMO. In part because they make men look like summer interns.

Carry your briefcase and save straps for overnight bags and the like.

Maybe, but sometimes I need to carry a case and have my hands free for other stuff.

Do you specifically not want a messenger?

Check out overstock.com. They have a few nice looking Johnston and Murphy bags, one of which I just ordered the other day. I am anxiously awaiting its arrival. Bags are about half off of retail.

Not necessarily. That actually looks pretty nice.

Thanks for all the suggestions, and keep 'em coming.

also check out customhide.com

there are some reviews of their work over at andy's (with very nice pictures). if i hadn't purchased that atlas bag, i probably would have done something with custom hide.

Wasn't there some leatherworking place in Truth or Consequences, NM that had been referenced here before?

But they're eminently practical. In addition to the considerations odoreater alluded to, one may have to carry the briefcase -- often quite laden -- for long distances, etc. Many have removable straps if the look really bugs you.

FWIW, about 70% of the time, if I'm carrying a briefcase it's one with a strap, and nobody has ever asked me if I'm an intern.

Many cases come with removeable straps. My Atlas flap over case has one, and I know you can get them on Swaine Adeney cases, too, if you want to knock over a bank (or mortgage the house). What style do you want? I'd think that would be the place to start, and then get one in that style with a removeable strap.
