For my money that's one of the home runs in Manton's Kong analogy.

Alright, trying out the new butcher stripe with SF approved green tie. Suit is a Harrisons Premier Cru navy birdseye:

Looks pretty good.

Two pics, one flash, one not because the photo colors are not really true

^ I think it looks good. I would have preferred a brighter tie, as the entire ensemble is a little washed out.

MIght I ask about good taste in shirt collar heights? Some of the recent pics in this thread are sporting nice high collars (Manton, Slew, ColdEye, Patrick). Slewfoot had a pretty fantastic BD with a two button collar which must have stood pretty tall. I'm a long-neck type, so looking into higher collars (Patrick has kindly given advice in another thread).

But how much collar to show relative to jacket collar is in good taste? I'm guessing with standard OTR shirt and jacket collar, this is on average 0.25 to 0.5 inch. a Higher collar would probably be 0.75 to 1 inch. Too much for good taste in us non-bespoke types?

I'm not sure if my collars in-real-life look at all high. They seem pretty balanced to me. Perhaps just high enough to grab one's attention. I generally don't like more than an inch or so above my jacket collar. A nice line of a shirt showing around the collar, but not much more than that. Most all of my shirts are made by Peter Lee and I kind of just let him do what he things looks best in that regard. I've added tweaks for comfort with him, but not much regarding collar.

o/o, I like it for the most part but there is very little contrast between tie & shirt, maybe pale blue would be a better shirt?

And dark brown suede in August is  What's wrong with the same color in calf?

Thanks. A good day all around; the Judge seemed to like my case for the most part as well. The tie is a bit darker than it appears in the photo, but the white shirt does wash it out a bit. I've worn it with a light blue end-on-end, and it works well. I was just in a rare white shirt mood today, probably from all the discussion in the other thread. The shoes are reddish brown, but I understand that you and others disfavor suede even in that range for summer. For me, the only thing wrong with the same color in calf is that its is calf. I have close to the same color in a dressy monk, but I'll pick the suede almost every time. Don't you have a pair of oxfords in fox suede? Would you wear those in summer?

the only suede I wear in summer is a very light ginger because the color is so useful. The darker ones, I don't wear until at least after Labor Day.
