You can see from the picks that they don't look skin tight. I personally think they fit great. I just have to suffer a bit too much at the moment. I might try to give them a soak and wear dry this weekend(i don't want to wear wet jeans to school) and then update with how they're doing. I'm in between 31 and 32 which always gives me problems. I guess i'll try to get them a half size up from my true waist if they don't stretch out in the next week. The problem with the samurai 710 is that they're $50 more and 19oz compared to PBJs 14.5oz. I live in Florida so you can see where i'm going with this. Polyrock, the crotch bulge isn't the problem(but yes, i have a *********
wink.gif
) It's just when i walk, the crotch part of the jean keeps rubbing and is a bit constricting. Anyone know about those others in terms of slim look but with a very slightly higher rise(not looking for 501 jeans or anything). It seems the samurai 500 has the best looking denim next to the pbjs(i know slub doesn't mean quality, but you have to admit it looks really nice). Are the johnbulls even remotely close to as slim as the pbjs?

The ndg classic raw grey was so tight on me in a 34, the skinniest jean I ever tried on I was uncomfortable walking. I have no idea why they call it a classic cut.

The fly on PBJs make them very uncomfortable. Mine never really felt better for me, even after months of wears, and I had the higher rise version (XX-003). It's not a problem with you chrono, it's definitely the jeans.

i had the xx-003 as well...it still kind of blows my mind this issue isn't brought up like everyday since so many people have them now...you really do have to go commando in those jeans to make it somewhat comfortable.

I think I mentioned the thickness of the crotch almost a year ago. This is an area where many thicknesses of denim converge, and it's the thick part of any jeans.

The PB's feature an inside fly facing that's about 1cm wider than most 501 style jeans. This coupled with multiple layers of the thick fabric creates a bit of a lump.

Although personally I've only found it to be an issue with the AI-001s. And fixable. You can just trim a bit off the edge of the fly facing.

Anyway, regarding alternative choices, try the Fullcount 1108 as mentioned previously. That will give up around another inch of front rise. As will the Eternal. In fact apart from the longer rise, the Fullcount is pretty close to the PBs in terms of leg fitting.

Also worth considering is the Slim Bootcut from RRL. Don't worry, the bootcut is barely there, and in fact they taper down to a narrower hem than the PBJ 005s. The RRL's are around a half inch longer in the front rise.

All of them have lighter, flatter denim than the Pure Blue's.

I think if you stick with em they will settle down and stretch, its one of the main reasons I havent washed mine yet. I do notice on extra long walks, the crotch seam rubs a bit against my thigh, but this I pretty rare, I still dont hesitiate to wear em around london all day. Incidentally this is also where most wear occures.

In regard to your choices, I have the s5000bk 2 sizes smaller and the rise feels the same, id wear pants with em, whereas with my canes I have much more room. The sammies do feel like a low rise jean, not so much in the seat but they do at the front.

Basically, if it bugs you too much, find another jean.

I must admit, I love the 005 cut, its so slim and flattering but not skinny and emo, just right. Please keep us updated on the choices you consider, id also like to find a similar shaped jean for my next project.

Why dont you look into, somet the regulars are pretty slim, as are ( surprisingly ) the slims!

Omnigods, do a tapered cut, 18cm hem, they look great, 15000 yen!

John Buls, sc008, sc003.

Eternal Tigers - I imagine these are very similar except with an extra inch rise, they had size 32 left at bears from what I remember. ( from what ive read and the pics and stats ive seen these look very close to the pbj 005 )

Full Count 1108, they are slim but Ive heard that the thigh is a smidgin looser than the pbj 005. Personally the wide spaced back pockets irk me.

I might be wrong, but sammies sillouette doesnt ever look too slim, except on the 30" waisted 6'4" love god we all know as "cheap"

Just for your information, I have both jeans in front of me in the same size. The pockets on the PBJ 005 are actually spaced further apart than the Full Count's. Not by too much, but around 1.5cm difference.

The thigh measurements are very similar. The Fullcount's measure around 1cm slimmer

The RRLs that I mentioned earlier are noticably slimmer than both.

The 1108's are ultra comfy and would be a good choice for FL IMO. However, on me at least they tend to fall down in the back causing diaper ass so I'm always pulling them up. S stated previously i wear 34 in PBJ and 32 in Fullcount.

Oh really? Do they come as close to the hips as each other? Its not so much the spacing rather I dont like the left edge of the left pocket and right edge of the right pocket coming to close to the hips, or the seam, its that wrap around look I dislike.

If im wrong then full count are suddenly much more desirable to me!

Measurement from top corner of back pocket to side seam,

PBJ 005 - 4.5cm
Full Count 1108 - 4.5cm

The Full Count's have a slightly longer top edge to the pockets. There's about 1cm difference.

They're a great pair of jeans. I think the biggest difference between the PBJs and the FCs is the length of the rise and the fabric. I wouldn't find the pocket placement an obstacle.

All of my dry denim has shrunk back down after a wash, then promptly ballooned out to right where it was before the wash within a matter of hours, at most. "Skin tight" is usually too tight, depending on the look you're going for, but if you buy a pair that fits you exactly as you want to in the store, you're going to end up with a much looser pair of jeans than you thought you were buying. Which is also fine, just know what you're getting into.

none taken, maybe i just wear mine more regular/fitted fit than tight compared to people on styleforum. with my first 3 pairs of dry denim (apc english, ssds, PBJ) i feel like i bought them too tight bc it was hard to button without sucking in my stomach or laying down on the bed. they stretched eventually but everytime i've soaked or washed them they shrink back down to that uncomfortably tight new state.

i snagged some SD-103's about a month ago and luckily they were only tight enough to where i didn't have to wear a belt, but they buttoned semi comfortably, and the entire process has just been so much less of a hassle. they stretch and balloon out, but its just the same amount as when i went the too tight route.

i just think dry jeans are somethign that your supposed to bum around, be carefree in, so you can essentially destroy and distress. they should be easy to deal with and should be comfortable and something to enjoy --- not something that makes you self conscious or something that you have your highs and lows with.

*note* the tone of this is actually very lighthearted.
