any thoughts on g-lab?
it looks like technical outerwear but the price tag makes me skeptical

Had an Explore for 24h, but it turned out not the be waterproof, even though the shop told me it was and it was by no means warm enough for the Scandinavian winter (G Lab told me it was).

I've been looking at these G-lab coats as well. Does anyone have a recommendation on a vendor? Even better, if someone has one and can advise about sizing.

i tried on a medium which would be tts in my case and the sleeves were a bit tight in the elbow area, but i think that would get better with s few wears

I am always wary about manufacturers claims and these seem to be claiming that this is their own material they are using for their products. It is expensive to develop and patent your own technology and yet these coats seem to be at the cheaper end of the spectrum.

yeah, I was pretty damn disappointed when I found it was as waterproof as the non waterproof coat it was replacing and their Danish retailer NAG turned out to be a bunch of wankers, who gave me a store credit (to a shop which only sells G-lab, CG, Filson and Danner), so it ended up taking a loss of 200$ just to get rid of it.

So NAG guess how many fingers I'm holding up.

With good reason.

Thanks for the info about the G-lab coats. I'd really like to find a quality rain/wind jacket in a style somewhat like the Explorer. It seems as if it should not be so difficult.

^ Field jacket does look nice. What's up with the Interops, though? Those 3 front pockets are just really bad, don't care how 'functional' they may be.

Hanon have just put up some pictures of the new Acronym line up for this autumn/winter.

I'm a fan of the field jacket, the car coat and the bomber jacket. Acronym normally get it very right with their functional add ons as well.

IMO - I disagree on the add-on front - the phone holster I don't find terribly useful, and the magnets on mine were never that good at holding my Etymotics on the jacket. The looks are good, but I'd also like to see some more creativity with the fabrics since Gore-Tex is kind of crappy and plasticky feeling.

You must have missed the link - they're now using Stotz Etaproof (Ventile) and Schoeller as well.

I can't really comment on which is better but it's good to see that they're open to different fabrics.

Ah, I didn't catch that. Hopefully it is better than GT which is crinkly in not a good way.
