Finally got my MTO boots, post office had them stuck in NY and extra day then postman was too lazy to knock on Saturday. No photos at the moment as I just got home and don't want to take a photo in boxers and pink socks but Oscar last is quite nice, a bit narrower than I expected so it's a bit tight on width but length is solid. Instep is kinda low too, bit hard to get out the skoak shoe trees which are super fing nice

Definitely Cognac

Fuark, my MTO jumper boots got shipped to my house instead of my dorm. Thankfully I have a friend driving down on Friday who can bring them, but that's an extra 4-day wait

If it's any consolation my pair are still in Stockholm, as dark forces have conspired against me!

First the extra delay, and then when they finally did arrive Paypal decided to "investigate" the payment. I think that is sorted now - but the boots are going to be sent to Hong Kong (I live in Beijing - import taxes here are too unpredictable) - and my next business trip there isn't for another 3 weeks! Good in any case to see some of the reports about the boots - I am really looking forward to seeing them.

As a consolation prize though, I'll be in Paris at the start of April on business, and have a free morning so I think you can guess where I'll be going ...

Is it possible to swap tassels on two loafers? Just cut the threading, pull through, re-thread? I've got some Carmina Tassel Loafers on the way to me and thought about eventually getting some (darker) suede tassel loafers as well. And swapping the tassels seemed like it could be cool.

It may seem like a good idea now but rarely is...good luck!

I tried on some Carmina beauties yesterday , shame that the shoe felt way too tight on, the Simpson last is too narrow for me!

Have you tried different lasts than the Simpson?
From what I understand it's their narrowest last, so maybe one of the others fits you better?

Farhad, was this in the Paris store?

Yeah Simpson is a narrow last. Speaking of which, I wore my RObert lasted boots today but before I tried them on I compared the last to forest and Robert is a touch longer than the forest last. Width is the same

Gents,

I am new to Carmina and Spanish shoes - tried a on a few pairs back at the Armoury
in HK but didn't pull the trigger.

Is there a SF proxy who can source me Carmina? If not which retailer is the most effective.
I understand Carmina has their own website, anyone had any issues ordering direct from them.

I am based in London and Swizterland -

Contact Carmina directly through their contact info online. You may need to send a couple emails to get Betty's attention. Also try to be as specific with your request as possible (I.e. model #, or last, specific style and material). I have had most success when being ultra specific. Betty has pretty good English and its actually improved since the first time I emailed her.

Also Skoak is easy to work with and the prices are extremely attractive

^ If you are in Switzerland, I believe Brogue in Geneva (www.brogue.ch) caries some Carmina models. Other than that, ordering directly from Carmina is usually the cheapest, if they have the model you want. Also, the prices in their Spanish stores are the same as in the webstore, while the Paris store is a bit more expensive (last time I checked). A couple of affiliates here also sell their shoes: http://skoaktiebolaget.se/tags/carmina, UniPair, Epaulet (besides Armoury, of course).

Thanks everyone - I'll probably try Betty Boo first and get it shipped VAT free to Zurich.
Think I know what I want - but I understand MTO a juicy 30% premium, is this a message
saying they are too busy making lots of RTW shoes or simply we don't want your MTO business?

Farhad, who are Matches - are they UK based?

I never buy anything in Suisse - my hard earned CHF is converted and spent elsewhere.
It's crazily expensive this country. I rarely touch the stuff, but to give you an idea, took
my little nephew to McDonalds for a Big Mac meal and shelled out $17 USD.

My tea and apple pie was $6
