Looks like the Carmina 10085 on the Rain last. We had in in stock last season in Tanned Calf. Very popular make up.

All--I am trying to put together a GMTO for a rain last shortwing boot through Skoak...the details are considered final

Details:

Style: Shortwing Boot
Last: Rain
Eyelets: 4 eyelets & 4 hooks
Sole: "500" sole with Dainite bottom (the 500 has a slim mid-layer...this option that is between a single and double sole...essentially a 1.5 sole)
Leather: Dark Cognac Cordovan
Price: about USD $720

If you are interested please PM me.

Here is an example of a Rain lasted shortwing boot

Wow. These are truly fantastic. Wish I had known about that model last year, since I've been looking for a moderately priced version of this shoe (as opposed to high end makers). I figured Carmina only made a Simpson lasted version.

Thank you Leaves. very much appreciate it. Rain is much better than Simpson for me. Are these no longer available this season? or was it an MTO for this make up?

It's mostly a UK English vs. US English issue.

UK English
Oxford - closed throated shoe
Derby - open throated shoe

US English
Balmoral - closed throated shoe
Blucher - open throated shoe

There are no differences in formality in a wholecut (Oxford) or plain cap toe (Oxford) IMO. I'd say that the plain cap toe is more for the work place (and interviews) while the wholecut is for evening wear. But for i.e. black tie events they could both be worn as long as they are in patent leather. It's more an issue of personal taste than a etiquette.

Actually the Derby and the Blucher are two different shoes. there is a subtle, yet important detail in the uppers (info here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blucher_shoe)

But look at the difference in the cuts of leather between the following two shoes

The top is a blucher and is made from a single piece of leather, where as the bottom is a derby and typically made from 3 pieces (excluding the tongue). Derby is originally a British shoe style, and blucher is Prussian. Why exactly America has adopted blucher to refer to all open throat shoes, not quite sure.

This was stocked and restocked but we now only have one pair left in UK 10 and won't be restocking it this coming season.

Are they too formal to wear with shorts?

Can someone help me with sizing on the Simpson and Rain lasts? I have never ordered a Carmina shoe.

Meermin Olfe 7 UK (good fit)
Meermin Hiro 7 UK (a little bit of heel slip)
RL/C&J Lindrick 7.5D US (I had to size down 0.5 from my regular US size)
Allen Edmonds 5 last 8D US (good fit)
