I guess I'm thinking of stuff like this:

http://www.xwyr.com/Stuhrling_swiss_...153431986.html

Although it keeps saying "tourbillon" over and over again. Is it seriously a functional rotating cradle, etc, for $400? I'd just always assumed it was a static fake thing just there for looks.

I'm aware that you can have an open heart watch that isn't a real/fake tourbillon.

EDIT: Aside from the blatant Bell & Ross knockoffs, I really like these Parnis automatics. How scratch-proof is the glass? I kind of want to order one. Bloody big case sizing though, anything over 43mm is gargantuan, IMO.

Edit Again: Parnis seems to sell a "tourbillon" (labeled as such) for $90. That just can't be.

I own six watches. All of them inexpensive. All of them were given to me as gifts.

This one means the most to me as it was a birthday present from my parents.

It originally came with a brown leather strap which after everyday wear for 4 years gave way. I got this SS bracelet put on it two years ago.

At any rate, this thread has got me pumped to visit Wako in the Ginza where I can finally see some of these poor-man's Seiko beauties in person!

Seiya Japan for the best Japan-only Seikos, better quality watches than the Seikos you can get in your local stores.

Not sure about the quality either. Stamped "Japan movement" on the back. I've had it for about 9 years, no problems yet other than the original leather band breaking which was probably due me wearing every day and in the water too. Changed the battery once or twice.

I think my Dad said it was about $150 when he bought it (in 2002).
And like I said, because of it's sentimental value, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

shock-absorber device. Number 257 of 500. The picture doesn't do the watch justice. It's sleek and slim and very low profile.
