Our second Chicago Sartorial Meet-up is scheduled for Friday, October 15, 2010, at Hub 51 at 51 West Hubbard Street in Chicago’s River North neighborhood (http://www.hub51chicago.com). The event will be held from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Joining the group will be three of England’s most prominent firms in gentlemen's clothing and footwear:

  • Alfred Sargent & Sons of Northampton, England (http://www.alfredsargent.co.uk), the renowned maker of fine men’s shoes and boots will be represented by proprietor Andrew Sargent, the scion of the firm’s namesake, and by Chay Cooper, its director of operations. At the event, the firm will unveil its new “Premier Exclusives” line for the first time in the United States.

  • Harvie & Hudson of Jermyn Street, London (http://www.harvieandhudson.com), one of the world’s leading shirtmakers, will send co-proprietors Richard Harvie and Andrew Hudson, who will discuss their range of dress shirts (including bespoke shirts).

  • Hemingway Tailors of Leeds, England (http://www.hemingwaytailors.co.uk), will be represented by their proprietor and master tailor, Toby Luper, who will explain his firm’s manufacture of classic English-style bespoke suits and sport coats.

This is the second annual event organized by the Chicago collaboration of “ld111134”/Lou, “Francisco d’Anconia”/Josh and “Burton”/Gerard.

The cost will be $112 per person, which will cover hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer. If you plan on attending, please contact “Burton”/Gerard for payment arrangements at your earliest convenience because we want to lock-in our headcount as soon as possible.

Please contact any of us by PM if you have any questions.

I'd have to start planning what I'd wear now to ensure I didn't embarrass myself in front of you dudes.

Wow, this is great. What time will it be on Friday? I would assume it's in the evening, or else it will be hard for us office mortals.

$112.00 to hear some guys try to sell me some clothes? This is almost irresistible.

Yes - we have to cover our costs, hence the price. Food and beverage don't come cheap and we organizers are on the hook for a guaranteed minimum amount.

Really, the focus is for like-minded guys to meet and greet. Last year's event was a rousing success.

Gentlemen,

Thanks for all the responses above, we hope you can all make the event.

The event is really meant to be a fun / educational / informative get together. We have been able to put together a great lineup of artisans at a very nice place. There are 3 of us who have organized the event and are acting as hosts.

A question came up about the cost that I think needs to be addressed. We can't put the event on for free, and the gentlemen who will be speaking about their products will have all traveled from England to join us. The three of us who will be hosting the event will also be paying attendees. We really look at this as way to share our passion about clothing and the experience and expertise of the artisans with the community here.

We really hope you can all attend.

I was in the process of scrolling down to enter my response, but then I read this. No need to say anything else.
