In Dominican Republic currently - Cigars to buy? Price?

Hey everyone.. I am in the Dominican Republic this week at a resort and was looking to bring back a few boxes of cigars.'

I am a bit confused on the pricing and what i should look to pay for a good cigar box of 25 down here?

Could any of you who know about the Dominican help me out?

1. What are some key cigars to get down here? I have seen Monti Cristo in a white box and a guy wanted $40 for the box. There was Habana on the bottom burned in.
2. Are the cigars that have Habana burned in the box or on the label really cubens?
3. How much should a box cost? I have seen 40-100 for a box of 25

Sounds like all you've seen so far are fakes.

In the Dominican Republic, stay the f*ck away from buying from any vendor without a Humidor. The fakes are everywhere. And don't buy from anywhere at beach, I'd say.

Where in DR are you? Puerto Plata, Santo Domingo, Punta Cana,...?

Why buy fake cubans when the DR has some fine fine cigars of it's own? Pick up a box of Avos and call it a day.

Yeah, if you're looking to find genuine habanos you won't find them in the DR. Those prices are also not right, but I'm 100% those are fakes anyways. Also, Dominican cigars sold in the US are primarily produced in a tax sheltered area and cant enter the Dominican market without first being exported and reimported making them expensive. You could find some local cigars which i presume could still be quite tasty.
