Should you let your wife or girlfriend buy your clothes?

I was at Nordstroms trying on shoes where I noticed a young woman with a handful of ties heading to the register. Is this a good or bad idea? btw She was smoking hot.

How many of you still let your wife, girlfriend, or Mother (or in some cases sisters) buy your clothes? I am talking about serious clothes not the occasion birthday or christmas shirt.

I wanted to get some shoes with brogueing (maybe even some wingtips) but delayed them to pick up some really plain merlot colored AE park avenues. My girlfriend doesn't like the brogue pattern, which is one of the reasons I considered when I was shopping (I'll still be getting a pair eventually). I also try not to wear this new brown blazer I get when we're together (she doesn't like brown).

I still buy what I want, but most of the time I'll consider what she likes when choosing my outfit for the day.

my wife has horrendous taste in everything imaginable - I wouldn't trust her to buy me clothes if my life depended on it

Same here. After some training, she has become reasonably capable.

Only one girlfriend ever came along with me to shop for clothes, then again she worked in the menswear business. We're still friends and I will ask her to tag along to double check the fit of suit jackets.

Only if they have better taste and color sense than you. If they are = or < it won't usually work unless they simply get lucky.

BTW, virtually all women THINK they have better taste and color sense than a guy, but that simply isn't true a lot of the time.

Since meeting my girl 4 years ago I've been educating her about elements of style and I think she has a pretty good idea of what I like and idiosyncratic obsessions like 3 button jackets, no vents, no button collar shirts etc. She says she likes my style and often compliments me when we go out but to this day she has never bought me so much as a sock. Go figure!

Also my girlfriend keeps saying I should buy clothes I like and stop getting clothes that fit the rules of "that stupid forum". I guess she thinks I buy clothes just to fit in with you guys.

But I'm not doing that...right? Right guys? RIGHT?

*goes off in tears to buy SF approved clothes*
