hello newbie: wanting NYC suit help-

Hello: doing some research online for suits and found this site.

My situation:

Past did the suit thing for years and years... had 2 custom suits made that were poorly tailored not a good experience. Bought suits from todays man (12-15 years ago ) and last suits few years ago i have bought form jos a Banks.

So now thru 12 years casual wear I am in process of changing jobs and going back to technology consulting (big 4), so will have to suit up. so lots travel need good non wrinkle, and durable

size 48 jacket Long, 37-38 pants. Wanting dark navy/blue...

Men's wearhouse has deal buy one get one for 100$-- so 2 jones of NY suits were ok but not making me say ahh with minor alterations l~ 500$ for both good deal

Brooks Bros - Long Island store had only 5 or so suits in my size - 2 for 1500$ signature collection nice --but not in the colors I wanted...

Looking online saw some nice suits on sale from J Press for around 500$ each -- going to go into NYC next week to look.

So I would love some gr8 suits for around $500 or sale 2 for 800$ etc.... (saw Mohans having a buy one get one free sale for MTM I think)

any thoughts or advise for a former suit man coming back to the world of suits? NYC based stores to see, and custom deals to investigate?

thanks all!

Brooks Brothers and J Press have excellent suits. They are very classic old New England style, but I wonder if you'll be able to get them in that price range. Definitely worth a look though. The J Press store in NYC is fantastic.

j Press is having a 25% to 40% off sale -gr8 prices!!! -my issue is the larger jacket and 37-38 pant--ahve to buy separates So a nice navy with chalk pinstripes -prestige line ah well.... Brooks had some sales online that are not in the stores (nada gotta try on a suit IMO) I am sure the NYC brooks store will have more inventory than the LI Brooks store I went to, they were very down on suit inventory--Sale man told me so before I looked . If i have to and found a suit that is the "one" with a gr8 fit (minor alterations but separates should have good fit to begin with I will spring for more bucks.... cheers!!
