Repost as thread was moving too fast and my enquiry did not get picked up:

Hi Guys,

Should I go for a Brown or Bourbon Strand? Need your advice!

Here's my current AE rotation:

Park Ave in Black
McAllister in Merlot
Rutledge in Burnished Walnut
Townleys in Brown Cordovan
New Orleans in Walnut
Neumora in Black
Neumora in Brown
Elgin in Tan
Neumok in Olive Green
RL Saunders in Tan
Daltons in Grey

Non AE:

Edetal Wholecut Medallion in Walnut
Tod's loafer in Walnut

I really like the Strand in Brown as I feel it's a very subtle, underrated style that exudes quality.
I also like how the toe box polishes up in some of the photos here.

On the other hand, the Strand is the only style in Bourbon which I like and that's the only shade not yet included in my rotation.
However, I also can't stand how the burnishing rubs off so easily with just a little renovateur or clear saphir cream polish, this makes them rather difficult to condition.

What do you think?

Both of those are beautiful. Is the one on the right the leeds in dark brown cordovan? What is the one on the left?

left is an AE strand and I am not sure about the plain toe. I really like the makeup itself though

The PTB is the Ralph Lauren Marlow.

Yes, I was only referring to the makeup: matched eyelets and dark brown edge trim. as opposed to chili and brass eyelets

I have Alden #8 for BB with matched eyelets and black sole edge, so I want to shoot for the antique/brass eyelets (looks like the only option for the eyelets AE has is a more subtle "antique" eyelets, so I might want to provide those myself) and a chili welt. I was concerned that Alden's cigar is more close to cappuccino, for which AE stock is very limited. I am glad it's more similar to dark brown. This gives me some time to think of it before pulling the trigger.

Contact Allison at 262-235-6128 and tell her you would like to place a MTO through the Styleforum agreement.

I get voicemail pretty quickly. Left a message with my number but haven't gotten a call back. Is this the number everyone is using to order?

Allison is pretty busy but she will return your call, don't worry. You may want to try to call her later today just in case. I spoke with her yesterday and she said they still have enough cappuccino shell for the next few weeks.

Really shouldn't purchase an MTO in cappuccino right now, but I've heard that once it runs out they won't stock anymore..is that right?

I don't know, 12 pairs really aren't that many pairs around these parts...LOL!

Oh, I forgot to mention. I bought them all this year. Hahah. To my own defense I've been saving for about two years for a trip to the US so I could get fitted for AE and Alden.
