I just picked up a pair of some nice Barker Blacks. I wasn't too thrilled with the soft brown frilly tipped laces that they came with, so I replaced them with what I had on hand. I seem to prefer waxed laces, and all I have at the moment is black ones.

I can't recall ever using black laces with brown shoes but I'm thinking this looks good. But I've been wrong before.

After a few coats of cordovan around the toes, followed by a few of black around the bottom near the sole, and a few last neutral coats of wax, the polished up with a nice semi- antique look to them.

I shot a few pics using a flash for some, since it does alter the appearance a great deal.

Sweet, I'm 30. Now I have to decide if I'm going to topy them or not. I do for all my other shoes, but these wont hit the rotation as frequently. Definitely some rubber heel pads. I'm loving the little cross and bones on both the medallion and the sole. The straight across lacing seemed appropriate.

I'm actually curious to see if people will even notice what the medallion actually is.
