Hi,

can someone enlighten me the function of 3 roll 2 lapel? If you're not using the top button, why place it there in the first place?

it's purely an aesthetic choice. i like it for the roll it produces.

Coho, congratulations

with your 13.41% thread/posts rate you have beaten already josepidal record of 12.60%

However with 8.3 post per day you have left his rate of 2.38 very far away

i love the roll...even on my leather jacket, the top button is still functional but when unbuttoned there is a slight roll, and i find jackets look/drape a lot better that way...something about it feels fluid, relaxed, free. I also like shirt collars that have a slight roll to them, i have one shirt like that and it is always so nice to look at in the mirror when i wear it.

it's aesthetic as well as functional, you can indeed button the top button when you are outside and it's cold, or for whatever reason. it works particularly well with a scarf.

If you want purely functional clothing try the Blackhawk! Digital Camo Internal Tourniquet Pants with rocket launcher loop (a rep tried to sell me these on my last plane flight).

I would rather have a two-button rolled to one-button lapel jacket than a three-button rolled to two-button lapel jacket.

100% of the time? I find that I can visualize it 1.65% of the time, and during that 1.65% I find it to be a bad idea 97.2% of the time and a horrible idea 2.1% of the time. The other .7% of the time I am not 100% sure what I think.

Just button the bottom button and leave the top open. I think a pic recently posted of Paul McCartney has him sporting an example of this phenomena.

Quit now or you'll end up w/ a headache.

I think that a lot more makers try the rollthrough than do it well. When done well, it allows the lapel to more gradually end without the sharp angle that you often see on cheap 3-button suits worn with the top button buttoned.

For me, I think I prefer a true three button with only the middle button buttoned. It gives you a good deal of what the rollthrough effect should be but allows you to actually button another button if it's really windy or raining.

I did a search and I see tons of posts like yours advising the OP to do a search. Annoying as hell.
