This Look ... in the context of it's Time - the 1970s; was fine. Some of the more dapper teachers at my high school were dressed like this. Except the ascot. No beatings resulted from the wearing.

The collar is a bit much. I like the shoulders on the jacket. It would work in Paris in a different era, but in today's world, I think it would be a bit contrived.

All in all I like the look but can't imagine anyone wearing it today. I hope to be proven wrong.

I'm going to wear this--and maybe gold jewelry--to a charity event, perhaps benefiting a children's hospital. Or maybe this:

Sometimes, it's just more fun being sleazy and unrepentently self-indulgent.

Ys I do and have been wanting to try it out for a while now. Although I would have the collar of the shirt tucked in.

I like this look much better.

I also like your subversive plan to wear something like this to a charity event.

I think it brings a little flash of color to a slightly bleak ensemble. It sounds gaudy, but it's actually quite tasteful.
I am sure that it looks good. Judging from your posts, I expect you have impeccable taste. When you have them both on one wrist, do you put anything on the other wrist? Jewelry is fairly limited for gentleman if you are gong to stick close to the rules. I would like to get some decent dress watches and set them up with coordinated bands. Yeah...shoes, belt, and watch band all from man-eating saltwater crocodile. That should look prosperous if a bit of what I believe the English refer to as "flash".

Not even a little bit -- I'd put this squarely in the "trying too hard" folder.

I find the look to be a bit dated and even in its time i'm sure I would have disliked it then as well. The ascot look always to me gives the impression that there wearer is snooty and thinks himself to be better than everyone else around him.

I only wear a ring on the other side.

I do believe that men are rather limited in jewelry, especially if you're not from a Romantic heritage--Spanish, Italian, etc. Of course, a nice watch and perhaps pocket watch & chain usually compensate.
