Too Fussy.... Just the medallion but the rest of the shoe plain would look better IMHO.

If the wingtip is too busy, you could always get one without:

They are Ligne Bottier -- which is to say, his made to order line. I suppose you could call it MTM, although in the shoe world many people (including Lobb Paris) appear to use "bespoke" and "MTM" interchangeably.

C'mon, those are absolutely great shoes. I've scratched my head more than once over this. I'm afraid I'll never understand the obsession around here with paring down, sleekness, minimalism, etc. etc. But then I guess decoration itself might be considered, you know, sexually ambiguous.
You guys probably don't much go for bentivegna welting either. Live a little. You are not here to be judged on your purity! Let go of your dreams of closets filled with plain cap-toes and whole cuts! You have nothing to lose but your chains!

Okay, touche. Well, I wouldn't wear those with a suit (or grey socks), but I think they could look great with some more casual clothes. Shoe trees, polish, and a little care with the soles wouldn't hurt either.
The brogued monk is one of the classic Edwardian shoe designs and could be worn very elegantly with a suit.
I think Arnold is just keeping in touch with his Central European roots.
