hey all. i'm a big fan of french cuffs, but pretty much all of my links are (or at least seem to me to be) pretty formal. would silk knots be appropriate for french cuffs with jeans & a SC? can i pull off my silver knots or silver with color inlay type links?

appreciate your thoughts and insight...

Silk knots are perfect for casual French cuff usage. Silver knots are cool, but I'm not a big fan of metal knots with inlays. Those look weird to me.

haha, nice blahman. i was thinking i could go with links like those; the "skull & crossbones", "dice", etc types of links that i wouldn't normally wear with a suit... means i have to go shopping though

I like enamel cufflinks in "neat" patterns for casual use. Deakin and Francis makes good ones. I find silk knots hard to wear because any cuff that fits properly with silk knots will be way too loose with normal cufflinks.

Be aware of the first rule of cufflinks though:

Never wear novelty cufflinks.

but then again it's okay to break a rule or two every now and then.

I wear silk knots for casual wear (i.e. with jeans). I usually receive compliments and I think the look works.

Links are for suits, but all rules are made to be broken. What do you have in mind?
