RL interlock polos, how to shrink?

Hey Guys!

I recently picked up some RL interlock polo's. I love they feel but their oversized, the tag says they are made oversized and will shrink to fit perfectly, but how do I go about washing them without fading colors or damaging them? I always wash cold and hang dry...

I'm thinking of washing in cold water( so the colors don't fade), then I'm confused of what dryer setting I should choose. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

I think they're designed to be dried on low. I'm not really sure how much they'd shrink if you simply washed and hung dry though.

I guess it depends on the colorfastness of the garments in question. The heat will cause them to shrink a little bit. I say just wash them on cold if you're that worried about fading, and dry them hot. Ultimately, either temperature setting will probably have the same outcome.

if i recall, those don't shrink a ton although I don't wear them personally. Just worked at a polo store and always remember them looking the same size on my coworkers when they purchased them.

I'm curious as to how this turned out. My local TJ Maxx has hundreds of these shirts in every color, but the fact that it says they are oversized to allow shrinkage scares me. I already have a too many clothes that don't fit the right way. They are way too big on me in the store before washing.

Did they shrink any ?

I once washed -- accidently, of course -- a beautiful cashmere scarf. It turned into a small densely matted pot holder. It took me a week before I realized what had happened.

This thread's topic is an interesting unresolved question.

Polo Ralph Lauren's small regular fit pique polos fit me perfectly. However, the small interlock polos I've looked at in the stores seem huge and are much bigger than the small pique polos. The custom (slim) fit interlock polos would seem to be the appropriate size, which seems odd since the custom fit pique polos are too small for me. So where I'm left, like the OP, is the fear of the regular fit small interlock polo not shrinking enough to fit how I want or the custom fit shrinking too much! Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.
