Bought it off the eBay. What's with the thing on the back, is it even a men's coat, and is it wearable?

A lot going on here. You have a bi-swing back or called an action back, sewn down belt, tab/button on vent. Purpose is to keep vent closed. Inverted pleat on front patch pocket.
Yes it is a mens jacket.

IIRC Kent Wang had a thread about the button on the vent within the last month. Look it up for more info

I have that SC in green linen. A favorite. If you don't like it, and it's a 40 or a 42, I'll be happy to take it off your hands!

It's 52% silk and 48% flax. (weird combo) I like the texture the flax gives it.

It is casual but leans toward a sporting use. This cloth is too fragile for sporting use. Have only made these for guys going shooting/hunting in Scotland. You know, when you go hunting and wear a jacket and tie, maybe plus fours. Have also made a bunch of trousers for quail hunting.

It has the shoulder/latissimus dorsi vents (forget what they are called) for easier arm/torso movement. I should have known

Yup- but done up in thorn-proof tweeds, etc, yeah?

This is one of those cases where function has completely given in to fashion.

Who's the maker? I love those details, does it also have a throat latch?

Why is linen and silk a weird combo?I probably have 20 things made with this blend in various percentages.

Yeah it's sort of a half-Norfolk what with the pleated (bellows?) patch pockets.

Personally I think there are TOO many details. I myself commissioned a half-Norfolk of sorts but I didn't have that many bells and whistles on it.
