I doubt anyone on this forum has any experience with Aldens. I mean, if you do a search, you find nothing. Try Ask Andy

Agree - that shoe looks awful. The boot is another story.

yiasu filarako!

:p

Anyways, I think the boot is popular because there seem to be a lot of people who cuff the jeans and I guess they like their shoe to be seen.

The oxfords are new. That's why no one knows cares about them.

If my history knowledge of Alden is faulty and they have existed before, they have not been made for at least 10 years prior to this year.

Also, they are pretty ugly

ok, just was looking for an alternative to the longwing to wear with khakis, would the boot still work in a business casual setting? i figured maybe too bulky?

Looks a bit too industrial IMO for business casual, at least in my work environment.

Far too casual for most business settings unless you are giving tours of the Acropolis.

Bulky? Depends on what you are used to. That's very subjective. Compared to what? Say the Italian glued shoes such as lower end Ferragamo - yes.

I used to have Aldens. I'm sure there are quite a few people in the forum who own them too, but probably don't want to admit it. More or less on par with AEs IMO. They are an OK brand.

But once I discovered C&J, EG, and JL, there's no going back.

I would disagree with you and say that Aldens are a much better quality shoe than AE imo. I briefly owned a pair of C&J Hallam's and they didn't strike me as 'high quality' when put alongside EG or JL. they weren't bad by any means, just not as nice looking as Aldens
