These don't go with shorts at all IMO, the elongated toe makes them look weird like that.

Yeah, I actually agree. I tried to make them work with shorts and couldn't. I think I need to get a more classic shaped pair of loafers for that. Having said that, they go great sock-less with slim chinos and denim slightly rolled up. I'm really happy with the purchase so far.
