reprint of take ivy

The mythologizing of this book is really hilarious:

"Described by The New York Times as, "a treasure of fashion insiders," Take Ivy was originally published in Japan in 1965, setting off an explosion of American-influenced "Ivy Style" fashion among students in the trendy Ginza shopping district of Tokyo."

The book was hardly a 'treasure' until a couple of years ago -- I remember Get Smart mentioning he bought a copy for <$20. They make it out to be some momentous event in Japanese pop cultural history, when the book was actually just promotional material for the clothing company VAN. (W. David Marx has a couple of interesting essays on this over at Ivy Style.)

Not that the pictures aren't great, of course.

I would like to hear sho'nuff's take on how he feels when his wife forces him to wear a sheer top without a bra.

re: GF dressing.

I wish mine would wear slightly looser denim, at least at the bottom, and a bit less of the 2% elastene stuff. But she wears great dresses and shorts. And I wish she would try a good wedge.

It has to come from her, very few girls don't like to "slut it up" from time to time.

am I the only one that's cringing every time someone tries to nonchalantly bring up the fact that cool the kid is black... over and over?
