glad to see this is in print, for us plebs unable to cough up $$$ for vintage copies on ebay. reprint of take ivy The mythologizing of this book is really hilarious: "Described by The New York Times as, "a treasure of fashion insiders," Take Ivy was originally published in Japan in 1965, setting off an explosion of American-influenced "Ivy Style" fashion among students in the trendy Ginza shopping district of Tokyo." The book was hardly a 'treasure' until a couple of years ago -- I remember Get Smart mentioning he bought a copy for <$20. They make it out to be some momentous event in Japanese pop cultural history, when the book was actually just promotional material for the clothing company VAN. (W. David Marx has a couple of interesting essays on this over at Ivy Style.) Not that the pictures aren't great, of course.
