I can't speak for quality differences seeing that I only own 1 pair of EG and no Lobbs, but judging by pictures and what I've handled in person, EG is my choice. The 888 last is pure secks. The mottled look on Lobbs and their lasts just don't do it for me. If I were to get Lobb I'd go all out and get a bespoke pair from their St James Street shop.

Agree with foo. Plus, for me, the toe box on the longer lasts (82,89,888) are a bit tight... but the 8000 fits superbly.

If I could get Green styling with Lobb patinas with G&G bottom finishing (fiddling, etc..)... that would be ideal.

I know this may not fit in w/everyone's taste, but JL's museum finishes just get me all hot n ready

Man.....If I could afford it, I'd fill my entire shoe closet with Lobbs.

But EG's are more accessible price wise and not too shabby of an alternative by anyone's standards.

Here's a pair that I just bought for myself despite it being .5-.75 too big for me from the get-go.

Reluctantly decided to unload and now sold...... and sadly, just shipped off

Prestige line in Dark Brown Museum, Beveled waist, no rear seam, IMHO absolutely stunning. Such a shame but good for the new owner I reckon...

I bought a trashed EG shoe off ebay recently. I mean just wrecked, the sole needs to be completely redone and there are stains on the leather. Seems like an amusing project to get them back in shape though which is why I bought them. I wonder if anyone was bidding against me here

Dont be so sure, I would have gone down with the ship on that sale. Having lost several others recently I was ready to explode my bank account to ensure victory, luckily the price was just fine. I haven't received them yet, but the main issue I can see will be the stains on the leather. Ill probably post pics when I get them, see if anyone thinks the stains can be dealt with

A few pages back someone threw G&G into the mix.

I like my pair of G&G, but I put them significantly below both EG & Lobb. They're very fancy and stylish but execution (in terms of form and details) is not up to snuff with EG/Lobb. Hopefully this will improve with time.
