So I'm trying to see about getting some decent wine transferred for pick up to the Windsor Vintages. Not a bottle of Sea Smoke, Peay, Loring, AP Vin, Beaux Freres, Martinelli, or Merry Edwards in the WHOLE FRIGGIN' PROVINCE! So much for the "world's largest buyer of fine wine and spirits"! They do have a few bottles of Siduri though, which it appears I could buy...for double what I pay here.

I briefly thought about it. I knew it would make Gomey happy, but that Scarecrow 3 pack is still stinging.

I want to re-register my feeling that Italian wine is not as good or as interesting as you guys think it is.

Sorry gomey.

I rethought. I agreed at first but think they are indeed interesting. As good as the nobles though?

But I do believe it's as good and interesting as I think it is. That is why I think it.

De gustibus and all that. I know some look down on me for my Left Coast interests.

I only look down on the left coast because I live there.

Brunello and Barolo can be very, very impressive. I don't have much experience with either though.

Bordeaux rules.

Speaking of Bordeaux, any opinion on Switchback Ridge?

Can somebody help me? I am serving, this evening, a chicken liver and marrow flan with a tomato cream for a main dish. It is an old fashioned recipe, and I have no idea what to serve with it. The flan is super delicate, so nothing overpowering.

Thanks.

A savory flan? Did not know there was such a beast. No real help coming from me, sorry.

Ah, thought you might. They seem to be old school and are highly regarded wines. Edit: Oh, an Alsace for dinner tonight.

a lack of experience can be key to understanding and appreciating a wine. But I think we both understood the '05 Corino Barolo right at the first whif. The same with the Poggio Antico.

I'd serve a dry Riesling with it. That should have just enough sugar to meld with the inherent sweetness of liver without being too oaky.
