Can't you buy directly from Mackintosh, too? I'd link to the store but I can't seem to find it, but I remember it having raincoats with different colored collars, like lime green and stuff.

The webstore seems to have gone down. It was pretty neat though, I remember you could custom order different lining combinations, etc.

I walked to work in my Cabourn jacket in the driving wet snow, and was covered by it when I arrived. After giving it a shake in the hall way, it was almost entirely dry. For a material that isn't high-tech, it sure stands up well.

Actually the Mackintosh coats stand up better to rain and snow than most jackets made out of technical materials because in addition to the material being 100% waterproof, they take extraordinary care to ensure that the seams don't let in water. Apparently you have to serve a three year apprenticeship at the factory before they will allow you to actually make a coat.

I realize this, and that's why I said that it's probably not as nice.

I don't know of many technical jackets that don't have taped seams.

They have them alright but they don't always work and often start to leak under sustained wetting.....the cuffs, shoulders and front top of the hood being the usual culprits in my experience. I suspect it's because a lot of them are made pretty cheaply.

You haven't shopping at the right places then for those technical jackets. Go visit some real sports outdoor equipment store.

Anyone know if sleeves can be let out on a Mackintosh? Thanks in advance.
