Do you wear 'flip flops' at the gym?

While I would never normally put my feet in the vile things I decided to invest in a pair after a trip to the gym today in which I witnessed A: a man spitting on himself in the sauna and B: listened to an old man hack up a lung and spit numerous 'lugies' down the shower drain. Plus I hear you can get warts if you don't get some footwear. Additionally, I heard low, lusty moans emanating from one of the shower stalls the other day. Some sort of gay mating call I'd imagine.

So do you wear flip flops at the gym? Or do you brave the foul floors and not worry about it?

The lockers rooms, sure. Even when I was in college and each dorm floor had shared bathrooms, I'd wear flip flops to shower. I never did in high school sports for some reason. Probably naivete.

I prefer, to wear my, burnished calf Aldens when in, the gym shower. The mildew actually, brings a new character to the existing patina.

He's talking about the locker room/sauna. Not in the actual gym to lift weights.

I don't currently use a gym, but when I did I didn't wear flip flops in the locker room or shower. I'd do so now if I should start using one again.

Here in SoFLA I've seen guys / girls wear flip-flops to the gym, I was waiting for either:

1) Someone to mention something to them, preferably the gym staff

or

2) They hit their big toe against a machine and learn not to wear flip-flops to the gym

Alas, neither 1 nor 2 ever occurred.

no I like the warm sensation of someone else's piss below my feet and I like to cultivate mushrooms around my toes.
