My point wasn't finding something that is pound-for-pound "better" or "more for your buck," rather that some people purchase items they like simply because they like them not because there's a better deal to be had elsewhere.

It's the "band is really just ripped-off j.crew that's been tailored" argument that some use against NiCo that is pretty funny to me.

Btw, Fuuma do you read Purple magazine? A co-worker just lent me an issue and I'm totally hooked. It's surprisngly unpretentious given the subject matter too.

Haha, yeah I know Purple. Pretty good mag.

I don't know about the ties on Mad Men. Don't see anything special about them. I thought the bit about London Fog was funny, though. "What's wrong with London Fog? I have one."

I dunno, just liked 'em. To be honest, this was the first time I'd actually watched the show, so I spent alot of time just analyzing fits. That London Fog bit was lolworthy though. I got some serious catchup to do, will prolly get the first two seasons on DVD.

i guess this comes w/ time?

Right now I've been going through old & new SF, sufu and SZ WAYWT threads bookmarking any pics that inspire me. A great way to figure out your style, perhaps. A couple of random pics:

You can't fit his 52 shirting? I thought we were close in size (both BoO XL), and I can fit 50 or 52 (even 48 in some outerwear). FWIW, his shirting is VERY slim in the arms, almost too much so.

Also Whodini, the difference is people say that Band and J Crew are the same because they mine from the same influences (classic American Prep), and Magician and I are saying that the only good NiCo pieces are almost direct copies of pieces from other brands. We get it, you know the designers or some **** and like the brand, but I'm so tired of being told "I don't understand it" because I don't like it. Trust me, it's not that hard to get.

Other thoughts:

* I wish I lived in a colder climate because I am constantly drawn to amazing knits. I am eying a really nice Geller one right now.

There is nothing original about Rick really. He makes oversized basketball sneakers and shorts, and classic leather designs in a slim fit. It doesn't need to be original though - that's not the point to me.

Also breakz you sound a lot like me. I definitely love the Prep aesthetic (almost all my shirting is Band), but I find myself slowly picking up more and more real designer, especially MMM. You can have the best of both worlds - just mix a clean aesthetic with one or two show pieces. The key IMO is having a strong base to build from, and I think I have *finally* gotten to that point.

Another thing that I've noticed:

Rag & Bone has amazing outerwear, but each season their shirt cut manages to get shittier and shittier. What's the deal dudes???

Maybe they except their clientele is getting fatter and fatter at the normal rate of waist growth in the US.

I'm a BoO XXL actually. My chest is exactly 44" at the moment. Perhaps I could get into some of his 52 knits but I'd still need to see measurements before I felt comfortable ordering them as unfortunately there is no where around me that stocks Geller.

no dude it's not even that. I tried on that s/s chambray (finally found the L) and it was the strangest ******* cut shirt I HAVE EVER tried on. the side gusset came up higher on me than band, yet the front hem was 2 inches below my crotch(4 inches below in the back) and totally flat. wtf??? if you want to make the shirt to be tucked in, don't have a sky high gusset!
