I am about to start work in the city and want to invest in a decent suit and some shirts. However, money is a real isue at the moment and cannot afford to spend much. I would say my budget is £25-30 max for shirts, and about £150 for a suit. Obvioulsy I dont expect top quality for that money, but would be good to get something half decent. I was wondering where offers good value for money in that range?

Thanks!

For that budget try good old M&S for the suit or try to catch a sale at Austin Reed. That's where I started when I began work (a mere 17 years ago!). Lewins or Charles Tyrwhitt are both OK for budget shirts that look good. If you can find a suit that fits well from Austin Reed, a nice Lewins shirt and tie, most of your workmates will think you spent more than you did.

Whatever make you are going to purchase ,the cut is the most important thing...
Don't buy an over-sized suit thinking that you will keep it longer....Buy a well-fitted one...
You can wear a Kiton or a Brioni , if the cut is wrong , you will look bad..
