Another good option if you're looking vintage is a 1950's vintage IWC. The caliber 89 was a workhorse and has held up pretty well in the vintage market. Not sure, but you can probably pick one of those up for a similar price to the Connie in 18k, maybe even a bit less if you look around. They're mostly manual winds, not auto's. That wouldn't matter to me, but it might to some people.

Not sure what steel ones are going for.

Nuyce!

for the amount of time i would wear it, it probably wouldnt matter if it were manual wind, but i think i would prefer an auto.

I looked at some cool old watches at a flea market over the weekend. One guy had several old Omegas and Longines in the $150 to $400 range. He's a dealer and they were all serviced and running, though I wouldn't know if they were original or Frankenwatches or whatever. There was a white gold 50's Omega manual wind with a simple, clean design for $175 that tempted me. He also had a 50's gold dress Jaeger Lecoultre manual wind with an alarm (it was some kind of clickety vibrate alarm) that was quite beautiful. He was asking $400, then came down to $350 but I had no idea what I was looking at so I took his info and walked away. Anyone know what the JLC might have been?

A couple of other old Omegas I have:

No fancy pic of this one, it's extremely thin, with a movement originally intended for ladies' watches:

Wow, that's pretty amazing. It's definitely under Ender's Game.

If you're patient and persistent, you can find the deal of a lifetime. As someone mentioned earlier, education is also key -- it's a process that I'm just beginning.

One that's on my list is an Omega Ranchero from the '50s:

Also have a look for Tudor watches -- they're sort of the "diffusion" line of Rolex (

) but they make very nice everyday-wear watches, like this one:

I like the that Tudor, actually. It's usually priced around $x,000 so it's a little too out there.

Anyways,

I need some SF opinions on this watch.

I emailed the seller and he is willing to lower the price. Thoughts on the watch? Yes or no? If yes, what should I offer?

Personally I'd think twice about buying a watch off Ebay without seeing pictures of the movement. He says it's all original. He says it was serviced 18 months ago. If he's telling the truth it looks like an OK deal if he'll come down some. If it's got a Seiko movement dropped into a nice Omega case...well...
