if you dig design, and judging from your posting in this thread i would guess you do, do yourself a favor and check out his site. I think I posted it earlier in this thread but it's paul-rand.com you'll be amazed if you're unfamiliar with his work.

he's my design hero. him and saul bass.

congrats, prepare to have your life ruined. Now you can never look at the fed ex logo again without seeing the arrow.

Canadian National Rail. The logo is nearly 50 years old now and looks just as fresh.

Actually, the buddhists didn't invent it. I've seen it on sealings dated to EH II found at the site of Lerna. EH (early helladic) II is about halfway between 2000-3000BC, though we don't know precise dates. It's been found in other areas as well, but i haven't studied those.
