One shan't not build a building resembling a penis or Muhammad?

A relatively common ethical dilemma for architects: a client wants a design that is not in the interest of the general populace and there is nothing in the building codes to prevent such a design. Which obligation takes precedence - that to the client or that to the public?

Obviously the client's, he is your client you are there to do a job he orders. The job of representing the populace belongs to the local government through building regulations. No dilemma here.

To be an architect you need a real visual/3d perception talent and the desire to use it. I'd understand hesitating between being an industrial designer or an architect but lawyer and arch., WTF!

Should I eat Tacos or go skiing?

This is why you'll never be an architect....

If that is the case - why do jurisdictions require an architect to stamp the design drawings for a building of any complexity? Its because the architect has an obligation to design things that are in the interest of the public in addition to the client.

Sounds like it's more of your thing than mine, since I have no idea what you're talking about and you're pretty familiar with it.

By this, do you mean in aesthetic terms?

Am a lawyer (and an engineer). Got accepted into the IIT Architecture School but blew it off for monetary reasons (and I hate van der Rohe) If I were starting over I'd probably pick Architecture, but creativity can be found in any career. I got my fix by designing the remodeling of my house.

Anyone can be an Architect with AutoCad.

Everyone is (or like to play) lawyer when they get pulled over and asked to step out of the car
