I love loafers, not because they're slip-ons but because they're slip-offs. Think about those times you need to and want to get your shoes off fast. They have an erotic component completely lacking in lace-ups. A nine-hole boot? Two minutes to unlace, not made for sex, definitely, but perfect for, say, the army.
I had a girlfriend a few years back who, after lovemaking, liked to take photos of the trail of clothes on the floor, leading to the bed. The farthest away and first item off were always my loafers - it was a signal.
