Are they pretty much the same as the clarks? I mean look wise.

This was asked earlier in the thread but i don't think it ever got answered - How do the crepe soles hold up structurally? Do they wear out easily/compress? I'm all for comfort, but I'd like these shoes to last a Boston winter.

Call a Clark's store. If they don't carry it in-store, have them order it for you.

Speaking of hard-to-find colorways... check these out. (Click the picture for a link.)

I'm convinced they aren't very long-lasting for heavy people. This applies, of course, to all soles but I think crepe especially. If you look at the close up of the BR Saharas, you can see how the toe has tapered to nearly nothing on the sole. It's not that drastic, though.

Thanks - just ordered the last size 8.5 Sahara in beeswax from Atlanta, I'll be curious to see how they turn out. If anyone's still after these, they seem to still have boots in stock at $14.95 + $8 S&H.

The BR Sahara boot has 3 lace holes and no metal eyelets in them and a strip of leather going up vertically from the base of the heel to reinforce the shoe I guess. Aside from those details they are the same. The pictures on page 30 show both brands.

Did you just call the Gap or what? I'd love to get my hands on some 11.5s if there are any still around.

Willsw, did you tree those boots?

I suspect that moisture + stress is the formula for breaking down the glue in those boots. A long day in the boots + shoe trees at the end might do that.

Or if they get wet and the glue begins to separate, and dirt gets in, that's the end of the glue being strong.

Or if they are a tight fit + they are worn day after day. I bought two pairs of the BR beeswax boots, the 10 and the 10.5. The bigger is more my size. I got splitting at the ball of the 10 when I took them on a trip -- had to pack very very light and could only take one pair of casual shoes for a long weekend -- on the third day they began to separate. They are still wearable but they are not going to last many years.

The second pair, the 10.5, are still good and while they have been worn more, they were not worn in those conditions.

I have another pair of Clark's that I am babying to some extent -- don't wear for more than eight hours, no shoe trees for these glue jobs, no consecutive days of wear, and (so far) no exposure to rain or snow or slush. I expect them to last a long time.

This is probably a crazy question, but which are wider? I mean wider like when you have them on and look down. I like the way a wider shoe looks with the jeans I wear. I know, I'm nuts.
