Do you like the look of this car? I rather like it as it appears discreetly extravagant:

Not knowing anything about it and not having seen it prior to this thread, the look itself doesnt scream extravagant to me. Rather it just reminds me of a Buick. Which isnt good. But perhaps it has some history or sensibility that escapes me.

It looks very aggressive in person. For reference, I believe it cost $140,000 in the '80s; the best part of it is that it used outdated '70s computer technology with stuff like cathode ray tubes and other anachronistic digital devices inside.

I think the body's a Bertone design.

Lagonda was swallowed up by Aston Martin. It's not clear whether they've done any Lagonda sedans in the last 5-10 years though.

I don't think Bertone did this; it was penned by the British designer, William Towns, and featured an array of then cutting-edge technology like LED lights, which proved unreliable so they were replaced by also unreliable cathode ray tubes.

Reminds me of the 1970s.

Definitely doesn't look very contemporary.

I see we both visited the same wikipedia article afterwards.

If it did, do you really think LK would be talking about it in the first place?

Before his adoptive parents died and left the business to him, now newspaper publisher (San Diego Union) used to drive his Lagonda to the office in La Jolla on alternate days in the early 1980s. When he wasn't driving the Lagonda, he was in his Aston Martin Vantage Volante convertible. Unless, of course, he was being chauffeured.

Those years were not the greatest for anachronistic Aston Martin Lagonda. This was long before Ford purchased the company. Newport Pagnell was very much a corky, musty post WWII backwater.

If I were getting a car from that period, I would want a BMW 635csi. Those were badass.
