Altering a sleeve with working buttonholes

I know this has been covered before, but I have a specific case to inquire about.

I have a coat that has nearly 1.5" from the bottom of the lowest button to the end of the sleeve. Let's say I wanted to take the sleeve up 1/4" (maybe even less, honestly)...I folded up the fabric and the button placement doesn't look odd, although I understand it often does on jackets with working b-holes.

Think I'd be OK to do this?

Sure, what's the problem?

I agree with mack. I actually think that 1.5" is, ideally, too much. 1.25" would look better.

yeah, no problem. ideally, you would be shortening both sleeves the same amount, but it seems fine to me. the only problem is when you want to shorten too much.

1/4" is ok. but because that distance at the bottom is so small there is one problem.
if both sleeves are not the same length the difference from bottom button to sleeve bottom will show up more readily.
