Contrasting collar shirts - yes or no?

I stand corrected in the shirt Appreciation thread it appeared like a cutaway when folded, but was actually a med spread.

Yeah, that is the majority of what I get. I did get one cutaway recently, but the only picture I posted of it was on a hanger, in a gag thread.

See them side by side and the difference is pretty obvious. A cutaway is very open, not quite 180 degress, but close.

Dress for Success, The Executive Look, one or two others. There are tons of these floating around used.

If you have no clothing books at all, the one I recommend first and foremost is Clothes and the Man.

Not so cheap, sadly. But I think it's a better intro than Dressing the Man, which you can pick up more cheaply.

The white collar look is more ghetto these days.

I have one french blue brooks brothers shirt I picked up on sale in the mid-90s which has a white collar (but not cuffs). I've worn it a few times with a solid white tie (and a fresh tan). That was fun, but rarely wear it now.

I like them, though it's certainly not an every day look. I have a few in my closet and I like to rotate them in periodically for variety.

If done well, they look pretty sharp. I have a few, the best is a PRL shirt from last year, white collar, but the double cuffs are in the shirting fabric.
