I'm looking for replacement chukkas that are primarily for jeans/weekend. These two caught my eye at PLAL, but I can't find any additional pictures. Does anyone have any experience or pics with these boots?

How does the lasts fit? The Brecon is on the 341... The Chepstow is on the 325..

I have emailed PLAL a few days ago, but haven't received any response.

Thanks, any info is appreciated.

The OP has probably long since decided between these, but I'm resurrecting the question as I've been considering these models as well. I'm familiar with the 341 last but not the 325.

So which do you like better, dark brown Brecon on 341:

or tan Chepstow on 325:

Heh. I actually have both of these.

It depends on what you want. The Chepstow is a little clunky looking and pretty light (as in color.) It is excellent for doing something during the day for which you might actually need a boot.

The Brecon is much sleaker and more "elegant" if you can use that word to describe a chukka boot. It is perfectly OK to wear at night with a suit in the appropriate circumstance, even though it has the Dainite sole. I cannot imagine any circumstance, night or day, when you could wear the Chepstow with a suit.

Question for Apropos: I have to get the Chepstow because the Brecon doesn't come in a G fitting. Could I turn it a darker brown with polish? What did you do to change the color of your Brecon? Did you follow Ron Rider's method?

Not sure if it's RR's method - I just went at it with some Saphir Renomat, and then used Saphir dyes and some cream to re-colour.

That said, it should be an easy task to turn it darker with dark cream polish. Turning it darker is easy, but if you want to turn it lighter, you will need to use RR's method, or my method.

Clark - what size were you again? Are those Chepstows yours?

Thanks - it seems in larger sizes the so-called stubbiness of the 325 last is really not much of an issue.

It would be fantastic if you could take a top-down photograph, but if it's too much hassle I understand. Still, would be fantastic.
